IELTS - International English Language Testing System

 

 

DETAILS OF THE EXAMINATION

Paper based – written test
Face-to-face examiner

The examination is divided into 4 separate parts :

→ Speaking (11-14 mins)

→ Reading (60 mins)

→ Listening (40 mins  →   30 mins listening )
                              ↘   10 mins to transfer the answers across)

→ Writing (60 mins )



Once the listening has finished Candidates that do not transfer their answers across will not be counted.



HOW TO APPLY ?

Candidates are required to present 2 passport photos

In addition 1 photo will be taken upon arrival at the Examination Centre to verify the Candidate

 -   Candidates MUST have ID or passport on Examination Day  (same ID or passport used when applying)

There are 2 types of Examinations available:

                      ↗    Higher education


                      ↗    Academic    →    Professional registration


             
                      ↘    General       →    Emigration


                      ↘    Work requirement




Application Form : Online registration or paper based

Candidates are required to present the following upon registration:

  • Recent photo (taken within the last 6 months) in colour with clear background
  • The name of the Candidate must be written clearly at the back of the photo (spectacles are to be removed for the purpose of the photo) 
  • Passport copy
  • 2014 Test Fee € 177.00 + report & post
  • 2015 Test Fee € 188.00 + report & post
  • Must be signed (at the bottom)

IELTS Closing Dates

Candidates have up until 5 weeks before Exam date to apply
Applicants will be received after this date (however Candidates are advised to call the Centre to see if any papers are left)


Candidates with Learning Difficulties or Special Needs 

  • Dyslexia
  • Hearing impairment  
  • Stuttering                               ->  Need medical report 
  • Blind    


The Examination Centre MUST be notified well in advance of any learning difficulties that special resources will be required for the exam

Cancellation    

  • After closing date candidates forfeit within 5 days of absence
  •  In the event of Illness the candidate must provide evidence so that they will be able to take the next available test

The TOEFL iBT® test, administered via the Internet, is an important part of your journey to study in an English-speaking country. In addition to the test, the ETS TOEFL Program provides tools and guides to help you prepare for the test and improve your English-language skills.


The TOEFL iBT test measures your ability to use and understand English at the university level. And it evaluates how well you combine your listening, reading, speaking and writing skills to perform academic tasks.


More than 27 million people from all over the world have taken the TOEFL test to demonstrate their English-language proficiency. The average English skill level ranges between Intermediate and Advanced.

The TOEFL test has various test dates (more than 50 per year) You can retake the test as many times as you wish, but you cannot take it more than once in a 12-day period. If you already have a test appointment, you cannot register for another test date that is within 12 days of your existing appointment.
